.... [ Monday/0725Z] a period of very light snow fell between 0615 &
0645Z: amounts on grass patchy/0.5 cm, elsewhere a 'dusting' only.

OAT -1.8°C. Problem round here - yesterday's ice didn't melt over
paving / shaded minor/untreated roads etc., so a little snow on top of
that will cause a few 'heart-in-mouth' moments (and the elderly/infirm
will have problems if they venture out later).

Haven't been around yet, but can hear the odd 'squeal' of brakes as
drivers find out the ghastly truth!

Martin.

.... am I reading this aright? Are there really no warnings out for
Dorset & enclaves?

I blinked at that too. But then I'm on 'higher ground', so it may be
different here.

.... (0925Z/Monday 21st): going to be an interesting few hours ahead I
think. Current cloud structu-
1Sc, 2As op/distant/encroaching from south, 7Ac str op, 8Cs neb, with
light wind - a little snow sprinkled about (as previous ob), but icy
in places.

OAT still well below freezing at -0.9°C; ground will 'take' any snow
well (i.e. no melt) and as advised earlier, minor roads/drives/paving
etc., have ice leftover from yesterday.

0.2 mm melted snow from event between 0615 & 0645Z.

Martin.

.... (21/1125Z): very light (few elements only) rain/snow mix from
~11Z. The sky is leaden, but looking at the radar, looks as if we're
on the extreme edge of this stuff; OAT currently +0.6°C, with the
grass thermometer reading fractionally above zero.

Just come back from a wander: main roads fine, but side roads/paving
need care - though another hour of air temperature like this and
they'll be OK too.

Martin.

.... (21/1210Z): moderate PPN, which has *some* snow elements, hence
coding in subject line. However, primarily 'wet' rather than
'solid/icy': might have implications for further inland / colder-lower
humidity spots though.

OAT he 1.1°C

.... (21/1250Z): continuous slight rain - any 'snow' element ceased by

the residual ice.

.... (21/1720Z): been fairly quiet here since my last post - rain off
and on, always light, with temperature up to 1.8 for a short time, but
it's now drifted back down to 0.9°C and I see that Hurn are
reporting -RASN: back to street-lamp watching :-)
