A cold, cloudy day with light rain this afternoon.

The sky has cleared now and the stars are shining, the temperature is
dropping away.

Just been outside and everything is glistening, crystal-like as all the wet
surfaces are now freezing. The lane outside is covered in a layer
super-smooth ice and the car doors are iced shut. The pavements and driveway
are dangerous to walk on. A friend slipped and fell late yesterday evening
on the ice and broke their collar bone, she said the A&E was full of people
with broken arms etc etc. Another treacherous trip tomorrow morning in the
car.

Methinks it's going to be mayhem.

To see any snow at all would be nice but this ice malarkey isn't much fun.

A max of just 1.4°C today after a very cold overnight low of -5.4°C.
