I haven't read every post in here, but haven't seen anyone reporting from
Basingstoke. I know Reading has copped a load, but just now (midnight) Radio
2 news reported Basingstoke as being "like a war zone". Can anyone
elaborate?

2am radio news:-
Complete gridlock in Basingstoke, apparently caused by drivers trying to get
off the M3. Some drivers have been stuck there for over 7 hours.
Worst affected areas are Hampshire, Berkshire & Bedfordshire, plus almost
white out conditions south of Edinburgh.

Current situation here in Northampton:-
Wind - None.
Snow - None
Temperature - None. (Oops, sorry, that should be 0C; zero=none anyway.)
Completely overcast, visibility about 150yds, fog (or low cloud?).
Deathly quiet out there, no traffic noise, no noise off the industrial
estate 1/2 mile away. Most unusual.
