After a max of 4.9C yesterday, the 2nd lowest max of the current cold
spell, it dropped to -1.0C overnight, then rose to around 2C during a hail/snow pellet shower at 08:00. This virtually melted, refroze as the shower cleared, mostly melted again by 10:00, and has refrozen again to give some very icy conditions. The temperature rose to 2.6C around 10:00, fell back to around 1.C at 11:00. Now climbing again, but still only 1.9C and 11:30. Particularly cold for Penzance, due to a complete lack of wind. Pz heliport wind speed:- 0mph at 9:50, same at 10:20, 1mph at 10:50. Not even a land breeze. Some beautiful Cb out over the sea. Graham Penzance |

Graham Penzance Oh, I meant to add, the MetO currently shows 7C for Penzance at noon, it looks like 3C will be nearer the mark. Difference probably due to the lack of the predicted 5-10mph wind. Unusual for the temperature discrepancy to be that way around. Graham Graham |

Must be a good chance of a few thunderstorms running up the Channel today. Graham Penzance |
