Default Penzance - Interesting Temperature fluctuations.

After a max of 4.9C yesterday, the 2nd lowest max of the current cold
spell, it dropped to -1.0C overnight, then rose to around 2C during a
hail/snow pellet shower at 08:00.

This virtually melted, refroze as the shower cleared, mostly melted
again by 10:00, and has refrozen again to give some very icy
conditions. The temperature rose to 2.6C around 10:00, fell back to
around 1.C at 11:00. Now climbing again, but still only 1.9C and
11:30.

Particularly cold for Penzance, due to a complete lack of wind. Pz
heliport wind speed:- 0mph at 9:50, same at 10:20, 1mph at 10:50. Not
even a land breeze.

Some beautiful Cb out over the sea.

Oh, I meant to add, the MetO currently shows 7C for Penzance at noon,
it looks like 3C will be nearer the mark. Difference probably due to
the lack of the predicted 5-10mph wind. Unusual for the temperature
discrepancy to be that way around.

I've got 7C here now in Stithians, Graham.
All the frozen hail has gone, thank goodness. Driving to the surgery just
after sunrise this morning was 'interesting' :-)

The 24 hour temperature graph for Culdrose shows the fluctuations up
well http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/...er_graphs.html

Just had a monster of a hail shower here. Must be a good chance of a
few thunderstorms running up the Channel today.
