Ta very much Mr. Bookie! And all of a sudden we are on to very dodgy territory! Are they honestly trying to tell us that somebody stood for 24 hours at each of these non Met Office sites (Buck House, Glasgow Cathedral etc) to check whether any snow flakes were seen. Were they properly Met Office trained to recognise sleet? Several of them appear to be official Met sites, but with automatic sensors. Google around for a while and you'll quickly discover that such sensors are notoriously slow in recognising the transition from rain to sleet and then snow. Anybody who has lost a bet here should very rapidly dispute these readings. Biggest giveaway.....Waddington reported only rain on the 25th, yet their snow depth increased at times! Jim |
