Default West Cornwall Ice - again

Like a skating rink, after a minimum of -3.8C (itself very low for
Penzance) was followed by rain/hail/snow pellets.

Many local schools etc. closed, some main roads closed, particularly
bad near the north Cornwall coast.

I don't know, 2009 saw my lowest ever temperature (-6.1C) and the
heaviest snowfall since 1987. 2010's getting off to an interesting
start. Looks like we could get some proper snow in the form of heavy
showers streaming from the north across the nice warm sea (once the
northerly sets in) rather than the normal rain/hail sleet mix.

We have had a slight snowfall sometime between 0500 and 0900. Just enough
to be a nuisance but not enough to make our garden look as attractive as
everybody else's.
Temperature 1.9șC.

Well, everything melted as the temperature soared to 4.7C.

Then, just as the ground started to get frosty again there was a heavy
snow shower, which half melted, but has now refozen into a nice
crunchy icy surface. (Air temperature around +1C)

Looks like that will soon be covered by real snow.
www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/index.html heading straight for
Cornwall. (Possibly sleet right on the north coast)
