Several hours of light but persistent snow this evening has topped up our
snow cover to somewhere in the 6-7cm region. That's a respectable figure for Bewdley: such events as Dec 2000, Feb 2007 and Feb 2009 (both events) all resulted in somewhere in the 5-8cm range. Air temperature is now -0.1°C (hooray!) and there's a light but nagging NE wind. A much more suitable direction for these conditions than the earlier south-westerly! The RainToday radar shows snow over me right now, but if anything is falling it isn't reaching the ground. -- Bewdley, Worcs. ~90m asl. |

Only lightly, but it's a long time since I can remember so much of a calendar day being taken up by snowfall. We haven't really had anything that could be called an extended dry period since it all started a bit before nine o'clock this morning. -- Bewdley, Worcs. ~90m asl. |

I've not been out, but would guess that there's 7cm or so on the ground now. Tonight is exceeding my expectations for somewhere this far north! Temp steady at -0.1°C. -- Bewdley, Worcs. ~90m asl. |

In the end I did go out a few minutes ago, for one last look tonight and a measure. 7-8 cm lying, which puts this event level with Feb 2007; interestingly, in both cases Worcester (which you wouldn't think of as that snowy either) got 10-12cm. Just a few flakes falling now, and so small as not to be adding anything to the existing accumulation. Temperature steady at -0.1°C. -- Bewdley, Worcs. ~90m asl. |
