Very cold day today, here in West Norway, and all of southern Norway.
Max: 13.5, min -19.6C! This is infact the lowest minimum temperature I can remember I have seen in all the time I have had a digital thermometer at my location Ørsta, 62.2 N, 6.2 E, 40 m asl.. I have written down recordings practically everyday (if not away) since the start of 2001. (2001 tables unfortunately lost). The minumum used to go to about -17/-17.5C previously, but in the last 5 years at least, the minimum hasn't gone under -12C. Was leaning to the interpretation that this was an effect of global warming. So what is this then !? Even below the minima in the 90s? Just an odd fluctuation.... Concerning the snow depth that was 94.5 cm on Monday night has now shrunk to 70.5 cm, without any melting whatsoever. Far below freezing all the time and no sun. Bjørn Sørheim |

Just should mention that the airport 4 km from here has recorded -26C today
or yesterday. Very cold indeed. Big icicles forming from every municipal street light. I'm not shure if I ever have seen that before? Sort of jumped to another state of winter this year...
