Default West Cornwall Atrocious raod conditions

We had snow showers throughout yesterday, and into the evening.
Although the thaw continued all day, it meant the main roads (which,
west of Penzance, means to St Just & Land's End only) remained wet/
slushy. Many of the others saw half melted snow & ice. The showers
also meant much of the salt was washed away.Even someone I know who
lives barely 2 miles away just off the St Just, is stuck, because even
4X4s can't make it the half mile up to the main road.

Milk is being thrown away in large quantities because the tankers
can't get through. In the old days it would be taken by tractor &
trailer up to the nearest cleared road, but the days of milk churns
are long past. Just one of the changes that have made us so suceptible
to snow.

Minimum temperature last night 4.1C, which is of course decidedly warm
compared to spots not far inland, but it's this flutuation above &
below freezing, together with the preciptation we've had in these
dangler situations, that has caused the problem.

Marginal whether it will be rain or snow here Sun/Mon, I rather
suspect rain/sleet.
