All the ones I've had in recent years have under read by about 1ºC I agree, my 3 year old Scenic has the sensor recessed in a hole under the offside mirror and as long as it's out of the sun, you just add one to whatever it says. I prefer that location to an under bonnet one, as it seems to be less susceptible to engine heat when slow moving or stationary. Thanks, John, I wasn't aware of that forum. Might be able to get one in
time for next winter, then ;-( SP "prodata" wrote in message ... As you say, you need to be on the move, not stuck in traffic. What is interesting are the variations, I'm getting to know all the local frost hollows. Also, just how rapidly the temperature falls away from the immediate sea front. Graham Penzance |

In article 1d835ce5-3b03-4ec0-b357-
, says... This is the result (and increase) of car thermometer (and the text). What is interesting is the acceptance of accuracy too. A little fog for us last night kept the lid on a very cold reading. Min was -13.2 C air. Lowest I've had is -17 this morning in Inverurie at 11am. I've no idea which way it errs or by how much but I was so impressed I had to take a photo. Bathed in gorgeous sunshine with a clear blue sky at the time, too. -- Alan LeHun |

The evening a pool of cold air had come from the north, not reached Godalming by say 1830. Something like 5 here, 4 down the road, steeply down to 2 over last four miles or so, steadily back up to Guildford at about 4, then variations with terrain and time to 3 on return. Insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but interesting to watch. -- Peter Thomas |
