With all the declarations of freezing weather for at least the next 10

It won't last, the upper pattern is cranking itself up for another very cold burst later January into February with sub 492DAM getting into Russia. Could make this cold spell look tame! Also as Keith has said the surface air will remain bitterly cold despite rising thickness values. We are in for the long haul countrywide with only the far SW likely to see anything remotely mild.
