Default [OT] A different record opportunity?

Still here! Though a good covering in the rest of Shetland), very
little snow on Fair Isle - just ice and hard-frozen ground. Inter-
island pilots now expert at landing aircraft on (gritted) ice!
Several examples of 'arctic sea smoke' reported from the Scalloway
area during the very cold mornings recently.
Considering the almost total snow-cover across the UK mainland, I got
to wondering if anyone had considered doing Lands End-John o' Groats
on ski? No doubt other long-distance (and perhaps more feasible)
routes come to mind. A couple of us skiied Kinder Scout to the
Cheviots in 1963.

Wow - some trip
There is talk of the legendary Scottish Haute Route being done - Fort
Bill - Aberdeenshire over hills on skitouring kit.

A glen bash across Scotland is certainly possible now. Just wish I
was fit (been in a spot of bother just before Christmas) and had the
time to do a big tour. Out a lot recently locally on the planks.

I expect great things are being done out there right now.
