I've noticed the Southampton area seems to be firmly in the mild
category on Wednesday (8C max, 7C min) while all around (including Exeter) temperatures are much colder, e.g. Exeter 5C max 0C min for the same time. This has happened once or twice in the current cold spell - Southampton seems to be much milder than other south-coast locations away from Cornwall. Why is this? Nick |

Stan Not sure I have to admit, was looking at the national temperatures map which doesn't show Plymouth - it shows Exeter, then Southampton, as well as Bristol. Southampton is forecast to be significantly warmer than either Exeter or Bristol on Wed day/night; I'm puzzled as to why it should be milder here than these more westerly locations, as the tendency seems to be that the more westerly locations are more likely to be in any mild air.
