100 years or so apparently. Dave Horrors! At least when it's cold you can pile on the duvets and blankets and stay warm. You can't do anything to cool down in 34ºC. Anne |

Difficult to know when mid-night is out there with the synops at zulu time, but the minimum at the two Melbourne sites we Minimums for the 12th we 94868 28.5°C 94868 29.8°C Previous nights were (11th): 94866 15.5°C 94868 19.0°C Maximums for the 11th we 94866 42.5°C 94868 43.6°C -- Keith (Southend) http://www.southendweather.net e-mail: kreh at southendweather dot net |

Anne I once peeled of my skin off, but the cooling process was offset by a hellish sore burning feeling |

As this site shows (http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/dwo/
IDCJDW3050.latest.shtml) the actual overnight reading was 24.2C. I don't know where the 34 came from--maybe it was midnight, though one article (from Aus. Met?) claimed it was the actual day's low. Maybe it was a morning low and at midnight, following, it was 24. Still, they should be recording the AM low as a high low temp for the month. Pegleg |

Pegleg Here's a report from Melbourne: It seems that the min. temperature was in the 20s but could easily have been 34C at midnight. 34C is close to 100 F, so perhaps it was in the region of 100 F, then rounded down to 34C http://www.theage.com.au/national/bl...0112-m4qd.html In the picture you can see the traditional way of dealing with hot nights - sleeping on the beach! |
