Nice one Lawrence, top song and sums it up perfectly, I think it is over
![]() To be honest I'm hoping it is!!! It's been one of the best cold spells for years without a doubt but apart from a few chosen locations the areas of snow have been a let down! This thing coming up from the south west will probably gives us a dusting if we are lucky and when it's out of the way I'm hoping it will warm up a little. I work outside now and it's been damn cold, don't mind putting up with the severe cold if we managed a few heavy snowfalls once in a while, but 5 to 6 cm falls is about the best we've done, despite being quite high. I'm hoping for some dry and milder weather for a while now with some sunshine again, haven't seen the sun for three days! Graham |

Unfortunately you, Lawrence and Keith happen to live in three of the unlucky areas. East Anglia, parts of the Midlands, and SE England to the east of (and including) London apparently haven't had much. But pretty much the whole of southern England west of London, parts of Wales, and most of northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland seem to have done well. -- John Hall "Acting is merely the art of keeping a large group of people from coughing." Does this ng provide a counselling service for all those poor snow lovers? Just lay back and think of Spring. Len I suppose the silver lining in the Atlantic clouds is that winters with a cold first half and mild second half tend to have much more reliable spring/summers than those which stay cold into the second half of winter, i.e late Jan/Feb. In my lifetime, those winters which had significant mild spells late in the winter i.e. 1981/82, 1996/97 and 2008/9 had half-decent springs/summers, while long late cold spells, developing in Jan and sticking around into Feb, such as 1985-87 and also apparently 1979 and 1963, tended to have pretty rubbish spring/summers. So maybe on reflection it's best to grit one's teeth for the next few weeks of dark evenings, short days and a lack of snow cover (though maybe the wind will be south-easterly enough to preserve it....), in the hope that the spring and summer will be better.... This winter 17 days snow falling, 15 days complete cover at 0900 and it's still there, max depth 12cm and it's only mid January. Likely to be one of the more impressive winters of my league table (since 1979). What I was trying to say is most places while having widespread snow haven't had big falls of 15 cms or more! Graham |

No complaints here in Wanstead, East London. I recorded my 7th straight day of snow lying this morning - it was down to 2cm so maybe won't be much left tomorrow. |
