Severe weather warnings were put out in a past midnight slot on BBC2, This
stuff we get now is crap, multiplied by H&S and added to political spin. I
reall can't believe I'm the only person that sees this.

You're probably the only person who puts that interpretation on
it. If you applied Occam's Razor you would be more likely to come to
the conclusion that it was either simply a poor forecast or a gluteus
maximus protection exercise and probably a bit of each. We are not
Ceaucesu's Romania, at least not yet.

I tend to feel that warnings are overhyped, issued when totally
unnecessary, and are almost becoming the norm - severe weather
warning, ' there will be weather today - wrap up warm/wear something
cool - drive safely - take an umbrella - get the old barbecue out -
batten down the hatches - don't drive unless you have to (good one,
that) - stay in bed - give up '.
Dopey, dumbed down Blue Peter stuff for a dopey, dumbed down world -
reducing the intellect level of adults to that of dumbed down non-
educated kids. Brown's "aspirational" Britain!

Many of rest of us (OK, excluding a very small number close to the
MetO, who feel this site is fine and dandy and who support it at every
opportunity) feel that the warnings site is something akin to a dog's
breakfast and hasn't been fit for purpose in this cold spell; some of
us have written for some time about its deficiencies.

You, on the other hand see the site's weaknesses as a support to your
own (fairly extreme and loony, it must be said) right-wing, anti most
things, agenda. The hobby horse you are presenty on Lawrence is one of
Health and Safety. It has been noticed, honestly, you've made your
point. You've criticised the police, other emergency services, NHS,
local government, Natiopnal Government, MetO, BBC and others!

The trouble is that no-one sees *your* agenda and that's why you are
bemoaning feeling on your own. With luck, this particular fixation
will have ebbed from you soon. I look forward to the next one that
grabs you! *))

I think the advisory for widespread icey roads/pavements is stupid. It
does not take a brain surgon to work out there might be ice around
this Januray.

I'm not criticising the NHS or the staff of UKMO what I'm constantly aware
of is the rubbish their managment and political leaders talk. it breally is
akin to propaganda.

The police /Stasi however are another matter altogether they are liars,
cowardly, bullying and increasingly losing all credibility with the backbone
of this country as they fail miserably to do the job they were set up to
do.. The only reason and time though I've ever mentioned them here is
weather climate related and only, I believe in two posts.
