Anyone know anything about this 'Decider' forecasting software
apparently developed by UKMO and which seems to categorise the forecast period into one of 29 weather 'regimes'? There's a rather undetailed write-up in the Sunday Times today (quite separate from the main UKMO story) - see: http://business.timesonline.co.uk/to...cle6990995.ece Apparently it took £40K to develop. I'm not sure whether or not that's a misprint but £40K would be a tiny amount for any worthwhile program development I would have thought - maybe 4-6 months of one programmer's efforts. I guess it's not software for private individuals to buy - they would presumably need to subscribe simply to its ouput. In any event EDF seem to like it. John Dann www.weatherstations.co.uk |
