The awful weather continues. Zero sun for almost a week now. Mild night and
now 6C with full cloud cover. Still no sign of any HP.
Dave, getting SAD.

Dave, unless you are a giraffe, even the high could end up cloudy.
I think you need either; to come up to Dartmoor where it is lovely and sunny
now but proper rain will never be far away, or book a certain cottage in
Cornwall where it's always baking hot and sunny in winter :-)

I guess if the wind goes round to the N later in the week that will be
sunnier though: N winds of any kind in the winter, cyclonic or
anticyclonic, tend to bring a lot of sun. I have to admit I'm starting
to want to see the sun a bit more (though it's unexpectedly appeared
just now) - while in January, cold is my main wish, once we get into
the second half of Feb, I'll be looking for brightness - with mild and
bright better than cold and dull.

:-) :-). You might regret that when you get a knock on the door and some
odd couple are standing there going -
"Remember me?"

10 sunless days in the last 14 here Dave, and out of the 4 only 1 day,
my Birthday, did the sun shine for 7.44 hour. They say it alway shines
on the righteous ;-)

Will be quite a contrast when we head off to the Indian Ocean in a few
weeks :-)

I have little knowledge of plate tectonics but I assume that it is
unlikely that even a strong northerly could cause that.
