Default Videos of snow and traffic problems in Belgium this morning

Severe difficulties on the roads in Belgium during the rush hour this
morning (Wednesday) because of the snow. This evening the snow was mostly
after the rush hour so the situation was much easier.

Clearly not too different to the problems usually experienced over on
this side of the water when it snows.
Had they salted the roads?

Major roads were supposedly gritted shortly after midnight in anticipation
of the light snow showers that were expected overnight. The longer spell
of snow giving up to 5 cm was not forecast. Heaviest snowfall came at the
height of the morning rush hour. When the gritting lorries set out again
as the snow fell, they got caught up in the traffic queues.

Problems are indeed the same as in the UK - HGVs losing grip on hills and
blocking the following traffic; people driving on summer tyres in the snow;
absurdly excessive amount of long-distance car commuting leading to such
heavy rush hour traffic that the least hindrance brings everything to a
stop.
