Default 12" to 24" in 35 miles

Yesterday saw 12" of snow in Aberfeldy and reports of 24" in the
Braco, Greenloaning, Auchterarder area. These towns are 35 miles south
of me. Stirling had a couple of inches 10 miles of so south of say
Braco.

Braco is roughly the same asl or so as I am so it seems strange to me
that 35 miles would result in such a difference. I am not doubting the
reports but I would welcome an official reading just to highlight the
anomalie.

That all said when i drive from here to Stirling, as I often do, I
often remark to my father that the rain always seems to start just
before I hit Braco and ends at Dunblane.

My rain converted total for the snow 0900-0900 25th Feb was 40mm

And just 30 miles or so further east I recorded just 9.6 mm sleet. Nasty stuff.

The general snow line in Lanarkshire seemed to be about 250m earlier this
afternoon, it's lowering as I type of course.
Some of the higher hills, such as Tinto must have an incredible amount. Now
over 60mm of precip here since the event started on Wednesday morning, snow
converted and add in orographic precipitation means there's no hillwalking
for me this weekend!
And when it thaws, oh dear!
Your wee burn will no doubt be enchroaching upon your house again Brian
Alex.
