After a stunning few days of true winter sunshine it now looks as though our
HP is going to pick up some cloud and return to the grey cold variety that has dogged this winter here. Dave, S.Essex |

Dave, S.Essex Indeed. It is rare though for highs not to do this, as all it takes is less cold and more moist air to come round the top and there you go. We would be fortunate indeed to stay in the crisp dry very cold air as we have a maritime climate with seas all around us. PS happy birthday from last week old man :-) Will (aged 57.6) -- |

PS happy birthday from last week old man :-) Will (aged 57.6) -- No cloud; though it was forecast to reach us and I was expecting to wake up to not seeing the sun rise over the sea this morning. The forecasters always have difficulty in judging the extent of cloud in an anticyclone and it has not pushed as far west as expected today. Quite a few will be waking up to some unexpected sunshine, I would think. Another sparkling, superb morning here, but still that rascally force 2/3 easterly to keep the temperatures down. A touch of frost on the cars earlier, but temperatures are rising quickly now. 6C at 0900. Warm enough to repair the verges on my gable. Ooooerrrr! Vertigo Paul. |

Quite a few will be waking up to some unexpected sunshine, I would think. Even in my part of Surrey, it's not the grey morning that I was expecting. It's probably about 50-50 cloud and blue sky at the moment, and if anything the proportion of cloud seems to be decreasing. There seems to have been enough cloud to prevent an overnight frost, though. -- John Hall "Acting is merely the art of keeping a large group of people from coughing." Sir Ralph Richardson (1902-83) |
