Strange thing to say in March, maybe, but the progressive and steady

Yes, I was about to put the lights on when I noticed it was only twenty
past four.

I had the light on all afternoon. Otherwise I would have struggled to
see to do my crossword. And besides it's depressing to sit in
semi-darkness. It's not unusual for me to have to do that in November,
December or January, but a rarity in mid-March.

It's not unusual for me to have this sort of weather in June, indeed any
time of year, though more common in autumn and winter!
You've all had a taste of Dartmoor weather, hope you enjoyed it :-)

LOL :-)
I know warmth is one of the desired attributes of spring, but give me
those cold, dry, bright easterlies we had early in the month any day!

For that, it helps to have a 60s house with large windows. That said, we
were content to sit inside watching the Cheltenham racing on TV. Don't
bet, but do enjoy guessing what might do well.

Perhaps we could have a *range of weather forecasts with the odds
attached?

Same where I am, which has large south and southwest facing windows.
In normal weather at this time of year, I don't normally have to put
the lights on until a little after 6.

Yes Nick if felt and looked exactly like that on Friday afternoon whilst at
work in Dulwich, in fact I remarked to my colleague how autumnal it looked
as the gloom descended with lights gleaming through the glumness and that
was around 3:30 pm!

Hmmm, to be honest I would rather prefer the prospect of the heating
bills trending downward as we move into the Spring months.

Lots of sun today, and at 3.30 the sun was significantly higher than
at noon in December. Shows how desperately gloomy it could be all day
in December if the weather was bad (I recall one occasion last year of
near-darkness at either 2pm or 3pm, I forget which, during a
thunderstorm early in the month) - I guess we should be grateful we
won't be in that position again for a good while!!!
