Default [WR] Otter Valley, Devon - 22nd March

After a breezy morning of patchy drizzle things turned fine and dry during
the afternoon. A max today of only 11.1°C making it coldest day since the
12th. Overnight minimum was 7.1°C and sunshine 3.0 hours.

Average maximum temperature anomaly is now into +ve territory but the
minimums have some way to go after all the cold nights that dominated the
first week of the month.

Apart from yesterday which was a gloriously warm and sunny day, sunshine has
been a bit below par lately, especially when compared to the extremely sunny
first 16 days. Despite the low sunshine recently, the monthly total now
stands at a respectable 138 hours. This month should easily beat July &
August of last year for sunshine. Just 20.4 mm of rain so far, all of which
has fallen during the last 3 days.

On a walk along the coast path yesterday, saw celandines, violets and
dandelions out in abundance with plenty of butterflies taking the
opportunity for a feed. Thought I would see the odd lizard basking in the
sun but found none which was a bit unusual for this time in March given the
strong sunshine. Interesting of all I saw an ash tree coming out into
leaf.....what's the saying.... Ash before oak we're going to get a soak.

A calm, clear and starry evening.

(19:22), 6.5°C, RH 80%, DP 3.6°C, 1018 hPa (R), Wind calm.
