Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon (GMT) on Saturday.
Issued 0503z, 30/03/10. The weekend still looks wet and windy for most, with low pressure close by. Temperatures will be at or below average generally. ECMWF: http://www.wzkarten.de/pics/Recm1201.gif A deep upper low covers Scotland, with a surface low over southern Scotland. To the north winds are easterly and elsewhere they're a mixture of SW'lies and westerlies. SSW'lies cover the UK on day 6, followed by southerlies on day 7. MetO: http://www.wzkarten.de/pics/Rukm1201.gif The UK lies under an area of low pressure. The low moves NE'wards on day 6, leaving westerlies behind. GFS: http://www.wzkarten.de/pics/Rtavn1201.png Low pressure lies to the east, leading to northerlies and NW'lies for the UK. On day 6 the winds become SW'lies as the low fills to the NE, followed by warmer southerlies on day 7 from a low to the west. GEM: http://www.wzkarten.de/pics/Rgem1201.gif The Canadian run brings a trough over the Scottish borders, with NE'lies to the north and southerlies elsewhere. JMA: http://www.wzkarten.de/pics/Rjma1201.gif A col covers the UK, with light winds for all. |
