Default Unusual, and unfortunate, low paths

Has anyone noticed how often this seems to have happened this winter?
Lows move down from the north or northwest, ordinarily a relatively
"good" direction as the usual pattern is for a cold, bright northerly
with wintry showers to follow the low, but then just short of the UK
they then head back slightly westwards again, leaving SE England, in
particular, in cyclonic southerlies and the inevitable accompanying
day-gloom, rather than the hoped-for bright northerlies.

The Easter weekend low's a bit like that, and one GFS run (they're
extremely variable even for next week) is suggesting the same for week
of April 12th (yes, I know). What looks initially like a late-season N
blast turns into a cyclonic SSW nightmare with a low coming down from
the north then moving westwards. That particular run seems to suggest
the whole of western Europe will have its worst first half of April in
living memory, but others are suggesting high pressure for at least
part of next week, so who knows....

Yes.

Pay attention in future.

(yes, I know)

What do you know?

The three first phases in April are much the same. Hence a tendency
towards similarities. With a you should pay more attention in future
rounding them off.
