Default Broadband problems - Please Read

There are major issues with telephone and broadband services in the UK, and
Usenet posts are not getting through to some news servers. There has been a
major fire in Paddington, London, affecting over 400 telephone exchanges
around the country, causing problems to telephone, mobile and broadband
services over the whole country. The worst affected ISP's are TalkTalk,
Tiscali, and Vodafone mobiles.

This second link gives a further link to
http://www.gradwell.com/userfiles/BT..._Exchanges.xls , giving a list of
all the affected exchanges in the country.

This is NOT an April joke! Thought you'd all like to know what was slowing
things up.

At the moment, posts aren't getting thought to eternal-september, but are
reaching freenews.netfront. Well at least they were a couple of hours ago.
Hope this gets there.

The Beeb is also reporting this but suggest the problem is limited more
to the London area. Can't say I've noticed much difference here in
Dorset but then we don't get a particularly fast and reliable BB service
where I am from Talktalk (my current ISP) or previous ones (BT, Tiscali,
Freeserve)

BTW lovely sunny morning here with lots of ice scraping having gone on!

.... no changes in any aspect of above noted here - service acceptable.
In fact the broadband throughput is if anything slightly faster than I
would expect.

If it has then I don't find it particularly funny. Then I always was a
grumpy old git!

Don't believe anything you read / hear today until after 12 noon

.... item originated at 1145 *yesterday*/31st March.

If someone tried to pass this off as an 'April Fool', I doubt that
many of us in rural areas would have noticed the difference from the
rest of the year :-(

No, I had an email about this from my ISP yesterday, ie the 31st (though
it doesn't seem to be affecting me at all).

Since the web works on particle physics, the posts are in the melt but
the freeze up is a delivery knot at the place the OP stated obviously.
Unable to collate all the particles, the servers have to reject them,
temporarily.

When they have bounced around Australia and New Zealand long enough,
they'll end up in South Africa and Brazil. Sooner or later they'll
turn up on here.

It's the way the networks.
