First daffodil of Spring came out this morning. Blimey Will, such a contrast to here in the 'tropical' lowlands of hinterland Devon. We've been enjoying the daffs for weeks now. Ours went back on hold when the snow fell earlier in the week... The previous week they had put on a good push to about 6" high. The swallows and house martins arrived on the evening of the 30th and are now everywhere. The peewits and curlews arrived about a fornight ago. Haven't seen much of the smaller migrant birds. Most of the trees seem to be refusing to come into leaf, All trees here are still bare. Be interesting to see how many manage to survive the rabbit damage from Jan/Feb, quite a number have been ring barked. B-( More of a thaw today about 30% cover now from 50% this morning. The ski tow was running on Yadd Moss again. -- Cheers Dave. Nr Garrigill, Cumbria. 421m ASL. |
