Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon (GMT) on Tuesday. Issued
0453z, 30/04/10. High pressure will be located to the west of the UK during the middle of the week. A mixture of northerlies and NW'lies will result, with generally dry conditions. The exceptions are likely to be the far north and possibly the far SE. ECMWF: http://www.wzkarten.de/pics/Recm1201.gif ECM shows a ridge over the UK with a high to the west. Northerlies cover England and Wales with WNW'lies elsewhere. Northerlies affect most areas on day 6 as the high to the west persists, followed by further northerlies on day 7. MetO: http://www.wzkarten.de/pics/Rukm1201.gif The UK lies under a ridge from the west. Northerlies cover England and Wales with westerlies elsewhere. NW'lies cover the UK on day 6 as the ridge moves southwards. GFS: http://www.wzkarten.de/pics/Rtavn1201.png Northerlies and NW'lies cover the UK, with a high to the west. There's little change on days 6 and 7, with the high persisting to the west. GEM: http://www.wzkarten.de/pics/Rgem1201.gif GEM shows NW'lies for all with a high to the west and a ridge over the English Channel. JMA: http://www.wzkarten.de/pics/Rjma1201.gif JMA also shows a high to the west, this time with a mixture of northerlies and NW'lies for the UK. |

Minor upper troughs even in high pressure at this time of year can produce thunderstorms given some local convergence. Will -- |
