uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged.

Nothing to argue (Again not a peer reviewed article), except.. Winter
in the northern hemisphere will still start in late December and end
in March.. .

As for fish kill in Florida....

We finally had some NORMAL winter weather like those we used to
experienced 15-20 years ago. I.E. Oranges freezing, a couple of new
daily lows(same for Cuba), and it also killed off a bunch of
non-native species (Pythons, Iguana's, Fish). No surprises..

(P.S. It didn't kill all the Iguana's, there were survivors, they'll
be back.)

From what I've read, most of the cooler/snowy weather was a fluke
event, set up by a strong high pressure zone entrenching itself over
Greenland. That forced the jet stream to dip down into eastern half
of the US for an extended period of time.. I.E.. A LOCALISED
EVENT...

As for record amounts of snowfall on the Eastern sea board.. That's a
sure sign of warming temps, not cooling. Large snowfalls require
higher levels of moisture in the atmosphere and those maximum moisture
levels are determined by atmospheric temperature (higher of course).

I think that covers ALL of Mojib Latif's evidence..

Sorry, but this is just earth's climate being a normal chaotic system
being driven by a number of factors, some of which are very old, like
orbital tilt, distance from sun, sun's angle of incidence, solar
output variability, and some are new like the accumulation of Green
house gases, albedo changes, volcanos erupting or lack thereof.

The daily/weekly/monthly outcomes in any particular region will never
be sure thing.

As it turns out.. Latif didn't make those claims..

"Latif told me: "I don't know what to do. They just make these things
up. NSIDC Director Serreze says it is "completely false.""

"He had me reread the quotes attributed to him a number of times,
asking twice, “those are direct quotes?” After I did, he said to me:
“I don’t know what to do. They just make these things up.” "

ROTFLMAO

It takes a deep green leftie to spin like this!

Hot weather is caused by .

.. GLOBAL WARMING!

.. EXTREME WEATHER!

.. THE ENVIRONMENT FIGHTING BACK!

Cold weather is caused by .

.. a dry air mass and clear skies.

.. a cold front.

.. nothing in particular.

Oh no, it is caused by global warming. I have had that explained to
me here several times. Hot weathe, cold weather, both are caused by
global warming. Too much rain/snow or too little rain/snow, both are
caused by global warming.

Ouch! I think I bit my tongue

I think you've lost it Bruce.

Here's the present *global* temperatures:

http://discover.itsc.uah.edu/amsutem...?amsutemps+001

Areas of cold and warm will occur as temperatures rise. Sometimes they
will be a consequence of that global warming. At any one time, the
colder bits don't show that global warming isn't happening, as you
seem to erroneously think.

Thank you for confirming that cooling can be blamed on global

You don't understand local changes in weather always produce cooler
areas while the globe overall warms. I can't help you until you do.
