The sunshine returned again today after a predominantly cloudy day yesterday
with only 2.5 hours of sunshine.

Today's sunshine has now past 10.5 hours and climbing with clear evening
skies. A reasonably warm day with a max of 18.2°C but it was yet another
chilly start with a minimum of only 2.3°C giving a slight grass frost
of -0.5°C, the 5th grass frost this month.

Sunshine levels are starting to recover after an often cloudy 1st ten days
of the month, sunshine has now passed 85 hours (1st - 17th).

It has been a dry month so far with just 12.2 mm, less than a quarter of
what should have fallen by now. Following on from a dry(ish) April, the
soils are now in need of some rain and I am having to water the veggies in
the garden and down the allotment.

Mean temperatures are starting to recover after the cold of the first 2
weeks:
(1st - 17th)
Mean max = 14.7
Mean min = 4.7°C
Mean = 9.7°C.

With much warmer weather on the way, I can see this month month ending up as
average or even slightly above temperature wise, especially with regards to
the mean max.

Is this going to be a dry summer? Hmmmm, something in me bones thinks it
might just be......
