in the UK this year?

Well close-ish at least.
London was predicted to be 30C today, if it had been it would have
been the first 30C recorded this country in May since 2005.
The record I believe is 32C. So unusual though not 'exceptional' conditions.

I agree, though the Camden square record date record is tagged as
"suspect" in Torro. 31.1 in Kesington is more likely to be correct for
the 24th's record (1922).

Couldn't match that, I'm relieved to say - 'just' 27.8C.
