Just put some images on my web page of Cat2 cyclone Phet from this morning's
overpass by the metop-a satellite. The minimum cloud top temp is -91C at that time, probably between 17 and 18 km top, though the nearest ascent is Seychelles. http://www.woksat.info/etcsf02/indexsf02.html Should keep the pirates in port. -- Bernard Burton Wokingham, Berkshire, UK. TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING FOR SHIPPING ( HIGH SEA ) tropical cyclone warning nil methinks some rapid re-thinking will be required! Apparently Misirah Island had a number of evacuation flights yesterday, but our men were deemed as 'key personnel' so they're sitting it out in the CRC. Well we Brits never get rattled by a bit of weather, saying that one of my colleagues spent 3 hours on the roof of a land-rover last year in Oman when a similar Cyclone struck, had it not been for the lorry the vehicle got lodged on, the story may not have been so good, although the unfortunate lorry driver was still in his cab, that time it was the Muscat area. Never underestimate the power of the weather. Thank you Martin for pointing this one out. Keith (Southend) http://www.southendweather.net "Weather Home & Abroad" |
