Sorry for the late report but been on holiday in the above area for a
few days. Mostly uneventful weather (and sunny today) but there was quite a notable thunderstorm early on Sunday afternoon (about 1400, IIRC). It appeared to move in from the SE (though wasn't certain) and was preceded by a darkening sky, though an hour or so previous there had been no sign whatsoever with a fairly harmless looking sky of medium level cloud. and produced 10-15 minutes of torrential rain (heaviest I've ever seen in Scotland) with a few near crashes of thunder (only once every 2 minutes or so though). This then turned into moderate rain before stopping around 1900 or so. One or two heavy showers later on. Since then, Monday was a dry, bright and often sunny day though high cloud moved in from the sw later. Tuesday had a wet morning, though the rain was never that heavy, and Wednesday was a brightish and windy day. Back down here in the south meanwhile we seem to be in the grip of a "bad" northeasterly (see other post) though it's surprisingly not cold - rather humid in fact. Nick |
