uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged.

I've just added a new page which records snapshots of the 500hpa 12z
forecast every day on the 00z run.
This feature now lets you see how consistent the GFS is at forecasting
today's weather from a period of up to 8 days away. Quite interesting how
the GFS managed to forecast a ridge of high pressure over the UK
consistently since last Thursday but problems with Fabian are evident.

Andrew,

Interesting page but do you think that stamping a "(C) MetCheck" on graphics
obviously taken from elsewhere is really on ? Poor show if you ask me.

Why don't you just create your own graphics from the raw data ? I'm guessing
time and money etc. but you do have all the machines around the world
processing this data for you, must be some spare run time.

Cheers

Ian

I didn't ask you.....

Me just being lazy, used a VBS I'd used for the cloud cover/pressure charts
which are generated just for the UK.
