Default Orographically enhanced rainfall

This afternoon's radar imagery shows remarkable orographic enhancement
of the rainfall over western Scotland. It's one of the best examples I
have seen.

Norman - your post prompted me to look at the last 4 hours as a sequence
and you are indeed correct. It is remarkable how the red/orange colours
developed and then appeared stationary (anchored by the topography) as the
front moved through.

We were driving back from Stirling and experienced very heavy rain
with the road awash in places. The clearance was very marked.
