A diurnal range of just 0.2°C at Glen Ogle. That's quite impressive,
assuming that the values are correct.

It's just a quirk of the reporting system. The 1800-0600 min, reported at 0600
today was 8.7 and the 0600-1800 max, reported at 1800 today was 8.9, so the
figures given by Colin are correct. However, the max for the 24 hours ending at
1800 today was at least 10.5 as that was the temperature on the 1900
observation yesterday. The min for the 24 hours ending at 1800 today was 7.3 or
slightly lower as that was the temperature reported at 1800 today. So, the true
range in the 24 hours ending at 1800 today was at least 3.2 degrees.

Unfortunately, in the winter half of the year the 1800-0600 min temps and
0600-1800 max temps reported in the SYNOPs will often not give the true 24-hour
max/min temps because it is not at all unusual for the 24-hour max to occur at
night or the 24-hour min to occur in the day. In particular, in winter the min
temp will often occur after 0600 and so is not reported in the SYNOPs. There's
no perfect answer to this but the climatological day in this country is taken
as 0900-0900z

Parts of west Cornwall saw the maximum temperature yesterday (midnight
to midnight) in the very early hours. E.g. 17.2C @ 00:40 in St Ives.
In Penzance the 0900-0900 (on 9th) min was a record breaking 16.5, by
1100 it was 16.1. (It did subsequently rie during a brief brighter
spell to 17.1)

The wind died down just in time to prevent any real problems yesterday
evenings high tide. (As fas as I'm aware) Gusts to 50mph were
widespread yesterday, even well inland, and from the nasty easterly
direction.
