Default Short-term forecast uncertainty

A lot of the discussion on here looks at the medium and seasonal range
uncertainty but here's an interesting example of short-range
uncertainty from the midnight models today the depth of Saturday's
low (and associated gradients). Anything from 996mb in the ECMWF to
flabby, broad gradients in the JMA model and 1004mb. The impact of
resolution of the models being highlighted here?

Hopefully the above link will work.

Cheers
Richard

The link works and show the point well. But what *is* the
resolution of these models? I have no idea myself.

I can't keep up at the moment. I believe ECMWF is 15 or 16km, GFS is
25km, UKMET is 40km (less sure about this), JMA: at a guess, 50km?
