Penzance - Alt. 19m Aspect SE
Variations are from the 1971-2000 norm
New records relate to the period from1992

TEMPERATURE
Mean 12.1 (-0.1)
Mean Max 15.5 (+0.5)
Mean Min 8.8 (-0.7)
Highest Max 19.4 8th
Lowest Max 11.7 24th
Lowest Min 1.1 21st (new record)
Highest Min 16.5 9th (new record)


PRECIPITATION
Rainfall Total 118.0mm (97%)
Wettest Day 38.6 - 2nd
Rain Days - 17
Wet Days - 12

Days with:-
Snow Falling: 0
Hail: 0
Fog @ 09:00 0
Thunder 0


WIND
Wind Max Gust (mph) 34 - 9th
No Gales in Penzance, but 9th saw gales in exposed spots. Gust of
54knots at St. Ives.

REMARKS
This October has seen both the 2 warmest October nights on record:-
16.5 - 9/10/10 (Following the warmest October day for 3 years on 8th)
15.2 - 10/10/10 (previous warmest night 15.1 on 14/10/98)
and the coldest October night on record, just 1.1C. Previous record
1.2C on 24/10/03 (Records start 1991)

Also much of the rain fell in 3 events. 38.6mm on 2nd (when between 30
& 35mm fell 0200-0400), 23.2mm on 22nd, then another 10.4mm due to
convergence rainfall along the spine of Cornwall during the afternoon
of the 31st. From 6th until 21st (inclusive) there was only 1.8mm of
rain.

Other events worthy of note:-
11th & 12th. 2 consecutive days of unbroken sunshine.
29th. Cold front squall line around noon, gust of 50mph at local
exposed spots. No measurable rain associated with the front.

Didn't really notice the mildness at St Ives - perhaps because I'm not
used to a strong breeze mitigating it?

Not surprised, given that it's very exposed on the Island.
