Been snowing quite heavily for the last hour or so. I can almost
watch it building up on the roof of one of the cars. I cleared the step of an 18" drift against the door and at least 4" from drive (cleared yesterday) to make a path way earlier, that is all back and more now. Just watched a Discovery 3 pass the house on the road, no more than a couple of inches clearance to the front valance. Bear in mind the road has been ploughed at least three times this morning if not four. On the cross road opposite it was having to push it's way through. Just as well this is light, fresh, snow otherwise it'd have got stuck. All roads out bar the A689 to Brampton where closed last night. I very much doubt that even that is still open. I suspect Alston Moor is effectively cut off from the outside world, short of helicopter and that would have problems if it needed to land, the down draft wouldn't half lift a lot of snow into the air... Currently: -3C F3/F4 NE'ly, snow blowing about and gently drifting. -- Cheers Dave. Nr Garrigill, Cumbria. 421m ASL. |
