Default They get worse!

Heather Minchen(?) on BBC1 Breakfast described the snow in the south as
"showers" which was bad enough for a supposed meteorologist, but what was
happening further north was said to be "heavy snow flurries"!

It's also creeping into the written forecasts. The following gem appeared in
the Peak District Mountain Weather Forecast the other day

"Further snow flurries are likely during the day, perhaps heavy
at times"

And my pet hate "gusting to gale force" is appearing all too often.

Don't know where I got "Heather" from in first post.
Definition of "snow flurry" from Wikipedia: "A snow flurry is a brief
instance of light snow, with very little or no accumulation of snow on the
ground." That sounds like what the NE is getting!
