Default West Moors/E.Dorset Fri. 3rd .. dusk falling / icy night ahead

.... (1600Z): going to be an interesting night if you are " out and
about " round here! There's lots of compacted snow (thick cloudy ice)
on paving and minor/estate roads, and the temperature has failed to
rise above the melting point today: currently -3.0°, after a
short-term maximum of -2.6°C. In thick mist here (adjacent fog towards
Hurn). Snow cover has continued to settle down, and now averages out
at 4 cm (from 6 cm 09Z).

And I've just had a gas bill - whoopee.

Martin.

Currently stacking a large wood delivery with head torches etc and
warm as toast BUT the AWS has dropped like a stone - it was -6.7C at
1725 and is now -5.8 so I wonder if warmer air is now beginning to
make itself apparent as it were. Another hour might co0nfirm that I
guess. Max today here was -2.8 just after noon
