The minimum overnight in Wishaw was -12.4บC, freezing fog once again
scuppering the chances of a much lower value. However it was the lowest December value since 1995. The day dawned with cloudy skies and a biting breeze at -6บC, nasty windchill! Light to moderate snow lasted much of the morning and first part of the afternoon. Temperatures reached above zero at 3pm and since then there's been a slow thaw. Local roads are much better, for the moment. There was a little bit of drifting of the snow around midday. The snow depth has just been measured at 27cm, quite a bit down on the 35cm peak. It's no longer fluffy snow. Alex Wishaw, Central Lowlands. |
