It really has been an exceptional 2 weeks!

Just been out chopping logs in -10c and wife just been into town, life
goes on with a few more layers on. Just like last winter I have beaten
a snow path to my office and the screen etc and wander around the
property according to these gullies and foot prints so that I am not
constantly banging my feet at the door. No post again today and bins
have not been emptied for a couple of weeks so things piling up.

Glasgow reporting -13C and Edinburgh -12C at 5.20pm, halfway in
between them here and so is the temperature.
Records could be broken tonight.. I think Glasgow's is -19.8C, not
sure about Edinburgh.
Seriously cold!
Thaw later in the week could cause tremendous problems with burst
pipes and snow melt.

New record cold day here today - -2.4C maximum.

The minimum is currently here -6.2, and has been so for the last few
hours. I wonder though why the temperatures aren't just falling away
like a stone? Thick, fresh snow; clear skies - the only thing against
is an occasional little breeze,

.... not sure how complete my figures are, but for Glasgow (Abbotsinch
/ Glasgow airport), I have a figure of -20.0°C credited to the 30th
December, 1995, the same date that the -27 was recorded at Altnaharra.

Martin.
