This was featured on 'Breakfast' this morning.
One of the presenters proclaimed that he was surprised as
he didn't think that salt water could freeze.

He was wrong of course in two ways.
One, that Lake Eire is a fresh water lake anyway but I
guess you could just about excuse a non-American
for not knowing that.

But not knowing that salt water freezes??
Somebody who has reached the very top of the British
broadcasting media, who must surely have a reasonable
intelligence/knowledge and not knowing that?

It beggars belief.

Surely that wasn't Bill 'sting like a bee' Turnball? I am surprised if it
was as compared to most who sit on that chair he's a bloody
genious. As for the other channels................don't ask.

Of course salt water can't freeze. Every motorist knows that salt is
100% effective in preventing ice and snow on the roads, and that if
any such frozen stuff is present it's because the council hasn't
spread any salt and it's a bleedin' disgrace and what do I pay my
council tax for anyway?

It does, though I wouldn't describe being presenter of "Breakfast" as
exactly the top of British broadcasting.

Does it? "Breakfast" is hardly the top of British broadcasting. The
presenters are just general hack journalists, any knowledge of
science is accidental. They'll have arts based degrees not science
ones...

'Breakfast' is a flagship BBC programme, so I would consider it's
presenters to be pretty damn near the top of their profession.
But whether they're at the top or not isn't really the point.
That was barely 'science' knowledge, it was general knowledge,
or indeed a sad *lack* of it.
