Default Choosing a Weather Station

Hi all,

I'm after some advice.

Basically I am looking for a relatively cheap (approx £100 or less!)
weather station which I will be able to connect to my computer to
store my data. All I am after is a station that measures temperature
and humidity as I'm not currently living somewhere where I will be
able to accurately measure rainfall and wind (although if the price is
right then it doesn't really matter!)

I have looked at quite a few different Oregon Scientific stations but
lots of reviews mention that the software package included is very
poor/ the station loses contact with the sensors when you download.

I have Windows 7, which could make things a bit more awkward with
compatible software.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Luke

A couple of times recently Maplin has reduced the price of the "USB
wireless weather forecaster" (which is the model you want from their
list, it's the only one which interfaces with a PC) to ~£70 for a few
weeks. If you wait long enough, they may do so again.

---------------------
Concur with this completely. Several of us on here use the excellent
Cumulus software. The Maplin Weather station (and there are several
others identical on eBAy and elsewhere under names like Watson and Fine
Offset) is probably the best bet under £80-100. They are very good and
can be calibrated as well via the Cumulus software if you feel any of
the readings are a little bit out. Don't rely on the housing supplied
for temperature though - it gets too warm in summer so put in the shade
or make your own,

You could of course just get a small temperature/humidity datalogger.
Would involve a bit more effort downloading, say weekly, but would do
the job.

I got one from Clas Ohlsen for £49.99 and also a £5 discount voucher you can
print off and take into the store, making it £44.99.
http://www.clasohlson.co.uk/Product/...x?id=158189912 It's the same
one as the Maplin one other posters have mentioned. Hope you have a Clas
Ohlsen nearby as I don't think they do mail order.

Thanks for all the tips. What is everyone's views on Oregon Scientific
stations? I quite like the look of a couple of them, however is it
just the software they come bundled with that I have heard is poor,
and if so, are OS stations compatible with Cumulus?

Thanks again,

Luke
