A spell of snow, moderate to heavy between 0630Z and
0720Z has provided us with a very even cover of 6cm, which equates to about half the amount that fell at the beginning of the month. The snow is more of a compact texture, as I am able to make snowballs of which I am sure to be on the receiving end when I take the girls out this morning. I suspect we shall also see more snowmen springing up after this fall than the last. With no wind, the snow looks very pretty, clinging onto trees, bushes, fences, etc. SYNOP 18/0850Z (current ob) 03/// 41230 80000 11006 21012 49897 56015 77077 886// 333 43006 88704= METAR EG// 180850Z 00000KT 3000 -SN OVC004 M01/M01 Q//// YLO2= Details: wind... calm. visibility... 3000m. weather... intermittent slight snow (large flakes). clouds... 8/8 St at 400ft. dry bulb... -0.6C. ice bulb... -0.8C. dewpoint... -1.2C. Sounds more than in Southampton - here a thin but even cover, perhaps about 1 or 2cm, a little less than the January event (the really heavy snow *just* missed here) and a little less still than the Feb 09 event. Looks like it's clearing now to the west so I guess that's it now. Nick |

Nick Sorry to reply to own post, but... looking northwards, it looks like they've had much more up Bassett way (about 2 miles away), the trees look covered there, round here they're not. Nick |
