Default Some night in Dawlish

Was woken at about 0300 by the sound of heavy rain driving against the
windows. Looks outside and what little snow we had was busily melting.
0600 lightning and a clap of thunder, but no other sound, except the
wind. Looked out and it was white over again with very heavy snow.
Sleet and snow now.

The roads are completely covered. The early heavy rain has washed the
salt off. Just the worst conditions for the highways agency. Hoping
for gritters soon, as I have to get to Exeter for 0900! That may have
to be curtailed. Goodness knows what conditions are like on Dartmoor
with this. The weather radar says it all!

Haldon Hill is currently closed in both directions due to snow.

Haldon hill webcam below. I thought it was a still photo as it hasn't
changed in 20 mins, but it's just a police car stopping the traffic
with an HGV behind it.

Under the thin cover of snow, the roads don't look too bad. Give it an
hour and the estuary route to Exeter may be reasonable.

Cancelled the trip to Exeter. Standing traffic on many roads and cars
going very gingerly outside the house. Most Doctors hadnn't made it
into the surgery by 8.30 when I called for the missus. Haldon still
closed. Agree with Will. Devon chaos this morning.

Fine now. 7/8 cloud. 1.4|C in Teognmouth and 16mm of precipitation
since midnight.
