Now where's the North Sea ice cover chart? We might need it by February :-)

Yes; the ignoramuses that always post when Arctic sea ice increases
for a short time, relative to the past, have been mighty quiet
recently.

Of course. this obviously illustrates the effects of AGW. *))

Seriously, as always, these unusual blips during the freezing and
melting seasons are always down to synoptics, but don't tell anyone
from Sydenham. This one's no different. Note the effects of WAA into
the Canadian Arctic:

When our weather finally warms, theirs will almost certainly cool and
the freezing will resume, as the NH pattern changes to something more
like the usual.

It has turned up but it is still lower than than it has ever been at
this time of year.
