Default Charts for next ten days not that inspiring.

Although I can see a blocked pattern returning and bringing cold and
possibly snow it looks at this stage to be once again dominated by LP in
the North Sea with HP blocking to the NW. No signs of that long lost
Scandinavian High with easterlies or north easterlies and probably not
much sunshine in my part of the world.

We lose most of the crud on Sunday as lower theta-w/dew point air comes in
behind the cold front, Dave. They'll still be large amounts of cloud around
at times coming in from the N/NW but not the persistent 8/8 St/Sc like we
currently have.

Dave you are so spoilt.

Charts look great for a straight long fetch northerly on New Years day and
then that low right over us , anything could happen there.

I mean surely this http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rukm721.gif

is better than
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/ar...0120000101.gif
or this
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/ar...0120010101.gif
or http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/ar...0120020101.gif

Mind you this one had promise
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/ar...0120030101.gif

This one was a 'cracker'

Its funny looking at those as they all get progressively colder from 2007 to
date.

Oh joy.. the previous run was similarly blocked and quite cold but this run
looks more cyclonic at all levels in the vicinity of the UK and if anything
even colder.

Late winter has always been the most favoured time for those, I think.

and probably not much sunshine in my part of the world.

It looks as if for much of the time the wind will be north-westerly
rather than northerly or north-easterly, and the pressure fairly high.
I'd have thought that you might do quite well for sunshine in that
scenario, unless "anticyclonic gloom" develops.
