Hi, All,
Just to keep things calm. Full resume to follow when family allows (: 0) Provisional figures show mean of -0.9C was the coldest December in this area since 1981 -1.1C at nearby Low Etherley (158m). January 1979 was -1.9C and 1963 would have been much lower. Mean max 1.6C Mean min -3.4C Mean screen -0.9C Rain 42.1mm (51%) Sun 83.8hr(175%) Lead Mill 1.3C / -5.0C / -1.9C Often warmer here because of inversion and katabatic flows. I think the key to this spell was the much lower values in the low lying areas, the hills were milder with snow lying much less. A difficult month to compare, then, unless a Met O station was on exactly the same site. Durham University Observatory will be useful here. Best wishes, Ken, Copley, Teesdale |
